Counselling Supervision

' the expectation that we can be immersed in suffering and loss daily and not be touched by it is as unreasonable as expecting to be able to walk through water without getting wet' (Remen 1996, cited in Boyle 2011)'

Supervision is a compassionate appreciative inquiry ...

... a space where we re-write the stories of our own practice, supervision interrupts practice and wakes us up to what we are doing instead of falling asleep in the comfort stories of our clinical routines.’

Ryan (2004)

Supervision is available Online, Face-to-Face, or a blend of both

Counselling supervision is the foundation of any counsellor's (or trainee counsellor's) work.

As a qualified COSCA Supervisor I offer a safe space where supervisees can revisit their work, reflect on it, receive feedback, support, and where appropriate, guidance. The object of this alliance is to enable the counsellor to gain in ethical competence, confidence, compassion, ethical decision making, self-care, self-awareness and creativity in order to give the best possible service to the client.  I work within BACP and COSCA Ethical Codes.

I work with supervisees at all stages of their counselling career, from students to long-established practitioners, from all different organisations and private practice.

An important aspect of supervision is helping supervisees to consider the impact of the work on the self. I will help you to explore your own self-care needs and offer the necessary support and scaffolding to help mitigate the stresses and impacts of your work and promote your practitioner well-being.

I love being a supervisor and the creative, inquisitive journeys we embark on to learn about your clients, and yourself. I feel privileged to play such a pivotal, supportive, nurturing, part in making a difference in the lives of my Supervisees in service of their clients.

Together, we will celebrate you and your clients’ success and your growth as a counsellor.

'I can't thank Jackie enough, firstly for believing in me when I first started as a very nervous student counsellor and secondly for the support that she has offered on my counselling journey.  Jackie made me feel very relaxed and comfortable from my very first supervision session. Jackie has shared her extensive knowledge and experience with me which helped grow as a counsellor and given me the confidence and support to set up in private practice.'

As well as offering supervision to counsellors, I offer Supervision to other professionals and support workers.
